E-Sports Sim Racing CRS GT3 Sprint Cup Result

A few weeks ago, we announced that we are now involved with E-Sports Sim Racing Events and we are sponsoring drivers in various British GT and Global E-Sports competitions. One of our drivers, Ian Hall speaks on his most recent race…

“Debrief from the final night of the CRS GT3 Sprint Cup…

So, the night was set up as 2 smaller sprint races, 35 mins at Oulton Park, 35 mins at Spa. The night started at Oulton Park, a tight, bumpy track that I’m not particularly strong at. Having said that, I did manage to put the car on the third spot on the grid. It was a fairly uneventful race, Peter Greaves, in p2, had great pace, putting half a second a lap on me, while at the same time I was putting half a second on the car behind, giving me a nice air gap to manage. I took the bottom step of the podium, which I was happy with as it’s not a strong track for me. Spa however, is another matter…

It all came down to the final race at Spa Francorchamps, one of the strongest, if not THE strongest track on the calendar for me. In the closing stages of qualifying, I was sitting in pole position, only to be pipped to the post by a faster Ferrari. As the lights turned green, I found myself cresting the hill at Radillon in the lead of the race. That was short lived, as Mark Taylor behind had some blistering pace in the opening laps of the race, taking the lead. I kept myself within a second of Mark, racing hard with him for the whole 35 minutes. Then the championship leading Ferrari crashed out. As soon as I heard, I knew that I had to win the race. I came close to taking the lead back a couple of times during the race, but my moment came as the leading car made a mistake into the Bus stop chicane, opening the door for me to sneak by! The race win plus the other driver’s misfortune meant that the championship was mine!”
